Telling His Parents_Part-1_73 Days Till Wedding.

Dear Blog

I just realized that in the last post I didn’t write about how we told his parents. I began by telling you that I was with my future-mother-in-law looking at a picture she took of us, but then I forgot to mention it again. On the first night of the proposal we told my parents and the following night we told his parents.

Therefore without much ado, Diary Entry #5 Part 1 (I say “part 1” because I have an important meeting tomorrow and it is very late at night, so I doubt I will have time to write the whole day down.)

Diary Entry #5

[December 23rd

Dear Diary

It’s almost 2:00 o’clock. Gerard said he was going to pick me up at half past one…or was it half past two? In any case, I guess it’s just as well that he didn’t arrive early or on time. My mom and I just had a big fight about him. She doesn’t understand why I’ve agreed to marry him. She doesn’t approve of it. She thinks I’m being foolish and that I’m jeopardizing my future.

“He is gay!” she screamed at me. “How could he possibly make you happy? How could you consider marrying him?! I will not pay for you to have a fake wedding…”

“Mother!” I was sitting in the living room rubbing my head. Her screaming was causing me to have a headache. “It isn’t for sure that we might get married. This is just something that happened and I agreed to it because we both love each other. Maybe it’s not the typical romantic type of love that we see in movies or the type of romantic love that I’ve searched for when I date. But we respect each other. He cares for me as I am and I care for him as he is…”

“So all this is a farce? You’re not going to eventually get married to him?”

“I don’t know yet…” I wanted to tell her the truth that we were just pulling this off until for awhile. “I don’t expect you to fully understand my decision mom. I just want you to support it. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on your only daughter’s wedding just because she is getting married to someone you don’t approve of then you don’t have to. I…We will find another way to finance a wedding. He is graduating this coming spring semester and I will graduate next fall semester. We will find a way to work things out. “

My mom finally sat down on the sofa across from me. I could tell that she was still very upset.

“I can’t deal with this.” She said. “I just don’t understand why…”

I knew I was going to have to lie…and I regret what I said as soon as it came out of my mouth. “He swings both ways mom. He’s gone out with guys, but now he’s wants to start a ‘normal’ family. I would like that very much as well…”

My mom stared at me. I could tell she was still trying to figure out things in her mind. “I can’t do this right now. We will talk about this later tonight.”

“Gerard is picking me up in a little bit. We are going over to tell his mother and then his father. I will try and be home early.”

“Do whatever you want. I don’t care.” She spat out at me as she walked into the kitchen.

I could feel tears forming in my eyes as she said that. I wonder if what I’ve gotten myself into will ruin our relationship. Maybe I should back out? I felt like the house was suffocating me, so I walked outside. I looked down the street to see if I could spot Gerard’s car coming. We needed to talk before we headed over to his parents place.

We had agreed to go to his mother’s house first since it was closest and then drive to his father’s place. Gerard’s parents got divorced when he was a teenager, and even though they ended things badly, they were always present for their children. I have never met his father, so I’m a bit nervous to find out what he is like… His mother on the other hand, is a very strong-minded person who can be very sweet or your worst nightmare.

I hope that we can have a good relationship for the sake of the whole family. If my mom and her team up to go against Gerard and I being engaged I don’t think I’d be able to go through with this. I don’t think his mother knows of his sexual preference, but I’m sure she suspects. I’ll find out soon enough…

] END OF DIARY ENTRY #5 PART 1

It is late and this was one of the hardest entries to edit. I can’t stay up longer, but I will finish editing it tomorrow and upload it.

My cel phone is beeping...I wonder who is texting me at this late hour? My caller ID says it is from Gerard… Ah, the nightly “Good-night Love” message…

Some days he is very thoughtful and sweet. Some days he isn’t…

He screwed up the other day, and this time I won’t let him off easy…

*Are you sure you want to delete the text message?*

*YES*

It’s been awhile…

Here is a song that has been on my mind.

Impossible by Shontelle.

For all those people out there who have gone through a heart-break. Things may not work out the way you want them to, but you can move past it and everything is going to be okay.

I remember years ago
Someone told me I should take
Caution when it comes to love
I did, I did
And you were strong and I was not
My illusion, my mistake
I was careless, I forgot
I did
And now when all is done
There is nothing to say
You have gone and so effortlessly
You have won
You can go ahead tell them
Tell them all I know now
Shout it from the roof top
Write it on the sky love
All we had is gone now
Tell them I was happy
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Falling out of love is hard
Falling for betrayal is worst
Broken trust and broken hearts
I know, I know
Thinking all you need is there
Building faith on love is worst
Empty promises will wear
I know (i know)
And know when all is gone
There is nothing to say
And if you're done with embarrassing me
On your own you can go ahead tell them

Tell them all I know now
Shout it from the roof top
Write it on the sky love
All we had is gone now
Tell them I was happy
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Ooh impossible (yeah yeah)
I remember years ago
Someone told me I should take
Caution when it comes to love
I did
Tell them all I know now
Shout it from the roof top
Write it on the sky love
All we had is gone now
Tell them I was happy (i was happy)
And my heart is broken
All my scars are open
Tell them what I hoped would be
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
Impossible, impossible
I remember years ago
Someone told me I should take
Caution when it comes to love
I did

Till Next Time.

XOXO

*Updates from Mexico

Good Morning!!
I went to bed last night around midnight, but for some reason I woke up at 7:00am this morning. However I laid in bed for another hour--haha. I had my alarm set for 8:00am so I could get up and feed the dogs and finishing ironing the last 10 items in the laundry room.
I think the house is pretty clean now. My parents and I have been pretty much non-stop cleaning it since we got back. I think today will be the first day when we can "relax". As I write this update my mom is still asleep. She stayed up until 2 or 3am cleaning her Art Room. I hope that when I'm her age I have just as much energy as she does!! I can't imagine all that she could accomplish in one day when she was my age... puts me to shame.

This week I hope to get a chance to work on my lesson plans for my students in my social service. (I still have another month or two left to complete my Social Service hours. Hopefully in I can get that done in Augustand September so I have more spare time to find a job...)
My mom and I are stranded at home without a car for at least a week or two. My mom's Jeep is in the shop getting repaired. While we were in on vacations my dad drove the Jeep and a bus ran into the back of the Jeep. >_< And my dad's car doesn't have any breaks so he has to get it repaired as well. "When it rains, it pours."

Since I'm stranded here at home and most of the house work had been done, I guess I'll work on my lesson plans and my stories. My parents got me an old-fashion typewriter for my birthday (april) this year. I've been asking and saving up for a typewriter for a very long time. I'm in love with it, but the poor thing has been neglected (sp?) because I was going into final exams and final projects all April and May. Then in June I was getting ready for my vacations. I was very tempted to bring my typewriter with me because it came with a traveling case, but I thought the airport would have had a hard time trying to figure out why a college student wanted to have a heavy typewriter for a Carry-On instead of a light laptop. (also, I was afraid something would happen to it.) So during the following days I hope to work on the typewriter and give it the much deserved love it needs. I have a feeling I'm selfishly be working on my stories and leaving the lesson plans for last minute rush. haha I shouldn't worry so much. I did work on my lesson plans before I left on vacations.

It has been raining on and off here since we got back. We still have a couple of leaks but nothing terribly bad. There are other people who have it worse. I've heard two very sad stories since we got back. The first one was about this family that was away on vacations and just got back and found out that they didn't have a home anymore. The hurricane "Alex" took they home by flooding it and it fell to pieces. Imagine that?
The second story is about this family that is (was) building a house on a slant and it's in its final stage, but due to all the rain and floods the house "moved" or sifted about 5 meters. It looks like it could fall anytime now, if there is another rain storm. The bigger problem is that beneath it is another house. So if the slanted house falls it would fall and destroy the house beneath it. Now the "municipal" has taken over and told the family they have to knock down the house to prevent any disasters.
I wonder what will happen to that family... I mean, if a natural disaster causes you to have to knock down your house, a house you've invested a lot of money into to build. What happens next? Who pays to rebuild the house?

I'll write later! Take care!
love.
