Good Morning!!
I went to bed last night around midnight, but for some reason I woke up at 7:00am this morning. However I laid in bed for another hour--haha. I had my alarm set for 8:00am so I could get up and feed the dogs and finishing ironing the last 10 items in the laundry room.
I think the house is pretty clean now. My parents and I have been pretty much non-stop cleaning it since we got back. I think today will be the first day when we can "relax". As I write this update my mom is still asleep. She stayed up until 2 or 3am cleaning her Art Room. I hope that when I'm her age I have just as much energy as she does!! I can't imagine all that she could accomplish in one day when she was my age... puts me to shame.
This week I hope to get a chance to work on my lesson plans for my students in my social service. (I still have another month or two left to complete my Social Service hours. Hopefully in I can get that done in Augustand September so I have more spare time to find a job...)
My mom and I are stranded at home without a car for at least a week or two. My mom's Jeep is in the shop getting repaired. While we were in on vacations my dad drove the Jeep and a bus ran into the back of the Jeep. >_< And my dad's car doesn't have any breaks so he has to get it repaired as well. "When it rains, it pours."
Since I'm stranded here at home and most of the house work had been done, I guess I'll work on my lesson plans and my stories. My parents got me an old-fashion typewriter for my birthday (april) this year. I've been asking and saving up for a typewriter for a very long time. I'm in love with it, but the poor thing has been neglected (sp?) because I was going into final exams and final projects all April and May. Then in June I was getting ready for my vacations. I was very tempted to bring my typewriter with me because it came with a traveling case, but I thought the airport would have had a hard time trying to figure out why a college student wanted to have a heavy typewriter for a Carry-On instead of a light laptop. (also, I was afraid something would happen to it.) So during the following days I hope to work on the typewriter and give it the much deserved love it needs. I have a feeling I'm selfishly be working on my stories and leaving the lesson plans for last minute rush. haha I shouldn't worry so much. I did work on my lesson plans before I left on vacations.
It has been raining on and off here since we got back. We still have a couple of leaks but nothing terribly bad. There are other people who have it worse. I've heard two very sad stories since we got back. The first one was about this family that was away on vacations and just got back and found out that they didn't have a home anymore. The hurricane "Alex" took they home by flooding it and it fell to pieces. Imagine that?
The second story is about this family that is (was) building a house on a slant and it's in its final stage, but due to all the rain and floods the house "moved" or sifted about 5 meters. It looks like it could fall anytime now, if there is another rain storm. The bigger problem is that beneath it is another house. So if the slanted house falls it would fall and destroy the house beneath it. Now the "municipal" has taken over and told the family they have to knock down the house to prevent any disasters.
I wonder what will happen to that family... I mean, if a natural disaster causes you to have to knock down your house, a house you've invested a lot of money into to build. What happens next? Who pays to rebuild the house?
I'll write later! Take care!
love.
